Players need to work together to help the Viatores, Dante Alighieri and his guide Virgil, ascend Mount Purgatory in order to atone for the highest possible number of Deadly Sins (Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Avarice, Gluttony and Lust) through Encounters and by applying the four Cardinal Virtues (the shield of Fortitude, the hourglass of Temperance, the mirror of Prudence and the scales of Justice). But upon reaching Earthly Paradise, only the most virtuous player will be able to… reach the stars.

Dante Alighieri: Comedia - Purgatorio™ couldn’t be developed without the scientific support of Dr. Callegarini, who helped Professor Cobblepot develop this game while considering the needs of people affected by Parkinson's disease, suffering from motor symptoms. The following difficulties were taken into consideration:

• keeping the cards in hand throughout the game: that’s why each player has their own pile resting on the table.
• drawing cards from a deck: that's why each player only has to reveal the top card of their pile.
• throwing dice: that's why there are no dice in the game.
• handling secret information: that's why it was avoided.

Game information has been made as visible as possible and any game action can be easily communicated to a caregiver.
