Arena Colossei: An Arena full of Components

The fundraising campaign that Top Hat Games will launch in 2021 (started on April 7th) on Kickstarter to publish Arena Colossei: Ludi Gladiatorii™, involves the production of a multitude of components. Let’s see what they are, shall we?

First, a rulebook to learn how to face one or more opponents in the arena, in Duel, Melee and even Solo mode, a game board that reproduces the large Ludus Magnus arena of the Flavian Amphitheater, also known as the Colosseum, and the box inner tray reproducing the smaller Ludus Dacicus arena where the Tiro are trained and selected.

58 unique gray plastic miniatures sculpted by OrcoNero Miniatures, including 32 Gladiators in four experience levels: Gregarius, Primus Palus, Veteranus and Héros (4 Samnis, 4 Gallus, 4 Thraex, 4 Mirmillo, 4 Sècutor, 4 Retiarius, 4 Hoplòmachus and 4 Provòcator).

Besides Gladiator miniatures, the box contains 4 Animals for Venationes (Leo, Ursus, Tigris and Panthera); 2 Tiro i.e. unexperienced gladiators; 1 Summa Rudis, the referee who determines the Crowd Favor and 1 Charonte for round counting; 18 Obstacles (6 Foculus i.e. braziers, 6 Ostium i.e. pits, and 6 Meta i.e. obelisks).

Other components include 15 special plastic FightHex System™ bases in six different colors: 3 red, 2 blue, 2 green, 3 yellow, 2 black and 3 white; 42 plastic Characteristic indicators in seven different colors: 6 black for Health, 6 white for Stamina, 6 gray for Action Points, 6 red for Shield Protection, 6 blue for Gàlea (helmet) Protection, 6 yellow for Bàlteus (belt) Protection, 6 green for Ocrèa (greaves) Protection; 6 cardboard dashboards in six different colors: red, blue, green, yellow, black and white; 43 cardboard square sheets to control all gladiatorial miniatures in the arena;

Every self-respecting game needs punched out components and Arena Colossei: Ludi Gladiatorii™ is no different with 6 die-cut cardboard sheets containing: 120 square Combat tiles in 6 colors (red, blue, green, yellow, black and white), 15 hexagonal markers and 36 round Damage tokens, 1 dice tower (assembly required);

How about cards? The game contains 220 cards: 144 Movement cards for Gregarius and Primus Palus, 24 Mastery cards for Veteranus, 24 Supremacy cards for Héros and 6 Conditions for Tiro in 6 different colors (red, blue, green, yellow, black and white), 3 Obstacles and 19 Spectacles;

And last but not least, 7 six-sided dice: 6 standard dice in different colors (red, blue, green, yellow, black and white) and a special die for Venationes Combat and 1 fabric bag.

Quite a remarkable "menu", worthy of a five-star restaurant where fun, strategy, fights and historical challenges are served on your gaming tables.
